Mastering the art of hair extensions is a fun and exciting journey! There are so many different hair extension methods to choose from, all unique in their own way. From tape-in extensions to keratin extensions to weft hair extensions, you can decide which method works best for you or your clients. We love seeing the hair transformations no matter the style!

But we’re curious: have you ever applied sew-in weft extensions? If so, you’ve probably used your fair share of weft thread for application. Or maybe you’re new to the weft hair extension world and want to know more about hair extension application. You might think it’s a small detail, but the brand you go with for your thread matters! First, let’s go over the types of weft extensions that use thread, then we’ll cover what makes our Big Kizzy thread special, followed by everything you need for applications. Let’s dive in!

What Types of Weft Hair Extension Methods Use Thread?

Model Wearing Weft Hair Extensions

If you’re thinking about going the weft hair extension route, there are two main options: sew-in and beaded weft. Depending on factors like lifestyle and the overall final look, you can decide which method works best for you or your clients. There are different variations for each when it comes to hair extension application, so let’s get into the specifics!

Sew-In Weft Hair Extensions

Sew-in weft hair extensions (or weave-in hair extensions) are sewn into the natural hair using weft thread onto small braids created along the scalp. This method offers options such as a partial sew-in, full sew-in, or invisible sew-in. These types of extensions are very secure and can last several weeks to a few months.

Beaded Weft Hair Extensions

There are several names that are used for the beaded weft application method. The key difference is whether or not weft thread is used for application.

  • The first method is referred to as beaded-weft or micro-link hair extensions. These extensions are applied using hair extension beads or links to hold the natural hair and wefts together in small sections.
  • The second method uses a hybrid of sew-in and beaded weft, which is sometimes referred to as a hidden beaded row, IBE, or invisible beaded row. In this method, the beads are added to the natural hair and the wefts are sewn in along a beaded row using weft thread.

For both sew-in and hidden beaded row, you’ll need to use weft thread for those methods. Now it’s time to choose the best thread for hair extension application (and why Big Kizzy has the best thread on the market!).

Why Choosing the Best Thread for Weft Hair Extensions Is Essential

Model Holding Nylon Threads

Think about it: what’s holding together the sew-in hair extensions? The weft thread! This is one of the most important parts of the entire application process, so make it count! At Big Kizzy, we know how crucial it is to have products that work perfectly for you or your clients if you’re a stylist. That’s why you can trust our nylon thread for weft extensions

Here’s why our thread is a stitch above the rest:

High-Quality Nylon

Our lightweight nylon thread is made to last! This thread provides a strong, non-slip stitch for any weft hair extension type, such as hand-tied, machine, or hybrid. Nylon thread also doesn’t hold water or stretch, so you can count on creating a safe and secure application with high-quality weft thread that offers the best performance possible.

Range of Colors

When you work with our weft thread, we have a range of colors available, including blonde, light blonde, brown, light brown, black, and burgundy. This gives you options to best blend the weft extensions into the natural hair for a flawless finish.

Designed By Stylists

Our nylon thread (along with our entire collection of products) is designed by actual stylists—those of us who have worked behind the chair and with hair extensions for years! That’s why we wanted to create a weft thread that’s easy to work with and comfortable to wear. We also offer two sizes, 250m and 1400m, depending on how many sew-in clients you see regularly.
