I spoke with Jennifer Edwards, Platinum Seemless’ new Director of Sales & Education, in order to get the inside scope into this hair extension company that is popping up on A LOT of radars!

BK – Hi Jenn! It’s DR!
Jenn – Oh Hi! (laughing) I’m out doing salon visits. I completely forgot about the interview!
BK – No problem! Should we re-schedule?
Jenn – Not at all! This is a perfect time.
BK – Great! Well, thanks for taking the time to chat with me about Platinum Seamless!
Jenn – Of course! My pleasure!
BK – Okay, let’s just jump right in. Can you give me the elevator pitch about Platinum Seamless?
Jenn – Sure! I’d like to call Platinum Seamless the O.G. of Hair Extensions! That’s important to know as the hair extension marketing has exploded the past couple of years almost creating an over saturated market. Platinum Seamless has been around since the beginning so our quality is top notch. We’ve used that time to create an incredible inventory with a color of selection of over 60 shades and 4 different lengths. We’re actually about to add a 5th length as well so you know with Platinum Seamless you’re not only getting quality and amazing quantity as well!
BK – That is quite impressive! Doe Platinum Seamless work with just salons?
Jenn – We work directly with salons but we’re also happy to work directly with stylists as well.
BK – That’s great! Love how accessible that makes you all
Jenn – Me too!
BK – And you just only human hair, correct?
Jenn – Yep! Only human hair. Though what’s really kinda cool is that with Platinum Seamless, each package of hair comes from a single braid?
BK – Single Braid? What does that mean?
Jenn – Hair extensions are usually created using strands from multiple hair donors. And that is perfectly acceptable. That would be using hair multiple braids. Platinum Seamless creates their extensions from the same donor, making it a single braid extension.
BK – Oh wow! I’ve been around extensions for a couple of years and I’ve never heard the phrase before.
Jenn – Probably because we are the only company that does that. Again, using multiple braids is industry standard so that’s to be expected, we just like being able to control the quality of our extensions and using a single donor for each pack of extensions allows us to confidently know that the hair we are using is up to our standards. Especially now that hair dying is becoming more and more acceptable in Asian Culture.
BK – Really? Because normally you can’t donate your hair if it’s been processed.
Jenn – Well you can, but it just ins’t considered Virgin Remy hair which is what you really want when you’re on the market for extensions. Virgin Remy hair gives the wearer more freedom to style and wear their hair however you want. Even color the extensions if you’d like.
BK – Gotcha. So when did you start at Platinum Seamless?
Jenn – November of 2018
BK – And what are you doing for Platinum Seamless?
Jenn – I’m tasked with strategically growing the business through education and outreach. Platinum Seamless has been around for over 12 years and it’s time more people knew about us
BK – That’s an admirable challenge! So, as someone spearheaded with grown the company, what would you say are some of Platinum Seamless strengths?
Jenn – Options immediately come to mind. You’re not going to find a better or more versatile selection of hair extensions anywhere else. And the single braid philosophy of Platinum Seamless is definitely one of our strengths.
BK – I would agree!
Jenn – Oh! And there are 10 ways to apply our extensions!
BK – 10? I thought there was only 1?
Jenn – Me too! Before I started working here. But with Platinum Seamless there are 10 different ways to apply the extensions which truly makes it accessible to almost anyone.
BK – That’s incredible! Now, for the flip side…what would you say are Platinum Seamless’s weaknesses?
Jenn – I think visibility and brand awareness could be improved upon.
BK – Well, they hired you so it looks like their taking the proper steps!
Jenn – (chucking) That’s the hope! The key is to strategically grow in a way that does not jeopardize the product or quality we are known to produce. We are a boutique brand and want to remain that way but there is a need to grow through education and outreach so that people truly have the best info in order to choose the right brand of hair extensions that fit their lifestyle.
BK – And how do you plan to approach this ambitious task?
Jenn – I want to build relationships with salons and stylists. I want to put our product in their hands and educate them on how Platinum Seamless can benefit their business and their clients. I’m currently creating systems and procedures to help build these relationships and serve the salons and stylists. I think these relationships can be truly mutually beneficial. I want to provide support to anyone interested in selling Platinum Seamless. The last thing I want is for someone to feel unsure of our product.
BK – That’s very wise. You’ve talked about Platinum Seamless’ quality a few times. How do you control that quality?
Jenn - Well, we do certify our salons and stylists.
BK – Oh! Well, that’s great. That supports the education you’ve mentioned.
Jenn - Exactly! We tailor our education and certification to the salon and stylist. I start by interviewing the salon or stylist to truly understand what their needs are. Knowing how many stylists are in the salon who specialize in hair extensions, knowing their volume of work, knowing how they approach hair extensions, etc. the better I can serve them. Same thing with a stylist.
BK – Is it the same certification process for a salon as it is for a stylist?
Jenn – Well, no. When I certify a salon it’s after an extensive training programming I’ve tailored to the salon. Stylists with a strong foundation of hair extensions can get their certification online.
BK – So, Jenn, as the new “czar” of education and outreach
Jenn – Laughing
BK – What’s coming up that you’re looking forward to?
Jenn – We are VERY excited about the Texas market. So much in fact that we are hosting a Mimosa Mixer!
BK – I’m in!

BK – What does a Mimosa Mixer look like for Platinum Seamless?
Jenn – I liken it to the Stat of the Union for Hair Extension. Me and my weave whispers-

Jenn – Will be hosting an afternoon of networking and light education for stylists and salons to introduce them to Platinum Seamless. And of course, champagne and orange juice.
BK – If all education was paired with mimosa’s I’d truly be the Renaissance Man I claim to be.
